Normal, « Pitch Black » & « Riddick » post-processing … vs. RAW
The jury has just selected my F/A-18C Hornet photography.
A picture that does not have much fancy, I admit very willingly, except the fact that visiting Manly was very nice and I wanted to share you this little piece of coast fairly typical of the place. I hope one day to have time to prepare a short video of that day. At the same […]
Very simple post-processing for this picture of the Opera taken at sunset: underexposure, strengthening of the black spot and cleaning of sensor dusts.
During a walk around Cairns, we went along this clearing. I was struck by the atmosphere that emanated from it: it was beautiful, quiet, without harsh and direct light from the sun, nature everywhere, much less human. And at the same time, images of the many inevitable movies about Vietnam and one begins to imagine […]
, I continue with this bats skewer. Speaking about shooting and processing, I use, once again, my “to the right” exposure technique, to gain information in dark areas such as wings, then readjust the exposure in post-production. I also remove a piece of branch in the upper right corner. Below, a very poor video (I […]
Mid of afternoon at Manly with a terrific light and such a beautiful bay… I focused my adjustments by working on the complementary tones present at this moment (orange light and grey/blue sky) and I also worked on the sea surface: the light catch was pretty interesting.
Based on the raw picture, I definitely had to do something with it; something interesting on it prevent me to trash it. I then decided to adjust it using actual combat/action movie style.
The “Château de la Chatonnière” his gardens is very pleasant. This is a restful place. The adjustment here was mainly done to reveal details on the sky. I add a vignetting effect to better guide the eyes into the path, while a slight color correction helps to render the scene more like “the way I […]
For this backlighting shot, I use the Center-Weighted Average metering mode to mainly expose shadows (the building), get more detail and quality on this critical areas, while the over-exposure on the sky will be easily handheld thanks to the great highlights (“to the right”) sensibility of the sensor. The jury has selected my Grey-headed Flying-foxe photography taken in Australia. This bat belongs to "Megabat" family and regularly flies in the sunday, even if it sits more likely in the shade of foliage. With over 22.300 unique views, it changes from Flickr ^^.
A little wink to people who are using my Before|After adjustment feature on my blog. That's something quite different! ^^
When you shoot a 180s long exposure in Sydney harbor, you can't hardly avoid to get your picture striped by navigation lights of boats. It happens here and I had to remove one of them. It's not necessary but I think the picture is better anyway. Note there are still light traces under the balustrade, […]
For people who'll try the Before|After comparison feature above, you'll notice I over-exposed my original shot in a purpose probably even more important than normally. This way, I've been able to catch details on the head and the neck. If not, their would have been completely blacks. In post adjustment, I under-exposed the whole picture […]
